• Den's Photography Bio

From my first foray into photography at the age of eight, snapping pictures on my Kodak to amuse my family and friends, I have progressed through a number of cameras of increasing complexity. My first 35 mm was a Minolta ST101 which didn't allow me to do everything I required so I traded it in on a Nikon F2A which I cherished until I moved on to my Nikon F3. I purchased this camera refurbished while working at Nikon Canada and have continued to use Nikon ever since. Operating a part time Commercial/Industrial Photography business for four years I found it necessary to use larger formats and bought a Mamiya RB67 and two Toyo 4x5 cameras (monorail and field versions) which I still own.
I have used a number of point and shoots over the years of different makes, looking for that perfect small camera that I can carry comfortably when not shooting with my DSLR's. I think I have found that in the Sony Nex 7; although, I am confident that something else better will eventually come along.
I currently spend my week-ends shooting 1812 re-enactments and pioneer villages on my Nikon D300S and D3X, while during the rest of the week photographing food, residential, tabletop, landscapes and anything else I can find of an intriguing nature to shoot.
With my son's patient tutoring, I am also trying to learn oil painting and the sculpting of bas reliefs which has long been on my bucket list. Although, I am sure that they will never replace the life long love I have for Photography
